A privilege to be a musician

It’s a privilege being a musician sometimes.

I organised a concert this evening (24th June 2017) to raise money for Cure Leukaemia.

One of my piano pupils performed, I accompanied a friend on violin and I conducted a choir of children from three of the local primary schools.

Everyone played beautifully and the kids sang their hearts out. Friends donated cakes and we raised £387 by donations.

The atmosphere was so positive and I have come away feeling that I was able to create something really special this evening, and raise funds for something so worthwhile, simply because I am a musician and a performer, just using the skills that I have acquired over the years through my job.

Music draws people together in an extraordinary way and creates these opportunities to do something good together. I feel so grateful that the skill I started to learn as a hobby when a child can be used now to help others.
